Our founding team has been collaborating over the past 20+ years, building the vision and foundation for Auction.com. Rob and Jeff co-founded Auction.com after years of building several successful real estate and technology businesses together. Monte was a founding partner in 2007, has served as a board member and financial advisor since the company's founding, and joined the company full-time in 2012.
Rob has been intimately involved in the real estate industry for over 20 years. Truly the visionary of this dynamic company, his exceptional business instinct and experience has shown a path to success amidst some of the nation’s most difficult economic times. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company, and surveying the business landscape for growth opportunities.
Rob is a licensed Auctioneer and the author of the book “The Auction Revolution.” Born and raised in Orange County, California, he has two children and contributes to a number of charitable organizations with both his time and money.
Jeff is responsible for changing Auction.com’s conceptualized business vision into a successful reality. With his strong entrepreneurial spirit and remarkable talent for driving sales and marketing, he has led the company in becoming the dominant player in the real estate auction industry—with sights set on bringing the auction model to other asset classes.
Jeff is a native of Orange County, California, and a supporter of numerous charitable organizations.
Monte joined Auction.com after more than 25 years in investment banking. He was most recently at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., where he served as the Global Head of Real Estate Investment Banking. At Deutsche Bank, Monte built the real estate banking team into one of Wall Street’s most successful practices. He also served as Deutsche Bank’s Chairman of M&A for the Americas, leading strategic dialog and tactical deal execution for some of the firm’s most prominent clients.
Monte has been a key part of Auction.com since its inception and has acted as a guiding force in the company’s phenomenal growth. When the company expanded into new areas of real estate sales and services, Monte joined the executive ranks to lend his expertise and experience to the company. Monte is also a member of Auction.com’s board of directors.
Jake oversees overall company operations. Prior to joining Auction.com in 2011, Jake was a Managing Director at Lightspeed Venture Partners. While there, he was an active board member and investor in private growth companies in the U.S. and abroad. Jake also served on the firm’s Investment Committee.
Prior to Lightspeed, he was an early employee in Cisco Systems’ Broadband Internet Cable Operator Business Unit. He participated in its growth from an annualized revenue run rate of $1 million to $1 billion and from 0% to over 90% market share.
Jake earned both his M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from MIT. At MIT he was awarded the Karl Taylor Compton Prize, the highest honor given to an MIT student. In 2009, he was honored by the World Economic Forum as one of its Young Global Leaders.
Before entering the technology world, Jake grew up learning about real estate, including construction, property management and transactions, as part of his family’s business.
He is excited to combine his technology and real estate experience at Auction.com.
Jim joined the Company in 2007, providing a strategic vision and organizational skillset that helped launch Auction.com to the forefront of the global auction marketplace.
During his tenure with the company, Jim has held a variety of executive level operational and strategic roles. He oversaw the development and implementation of the company’s nationwide REO Ballroom Auction program, and was instrumental in the smooth transition to the current Online Auction platform. His leadership has ensured the success and expansion of the successful third-party seller program, and continues to lead the company’s growth into other real estate auction verticals.
Prior to joining Auction.com, Jim enjoyed a distinguished 21-year career in the United States Marine Corps, serving abroad in several key peacetime and wartime leadership positions, and earning many decorations, awards, and technical designations. Jim then entered the private sector with LandAuction.com, where he served as Executive Vice President with responsibility for all auction operations.
Jim graduated with honors from Campbell University and holds a B.S. in Psychology. He resides in San Clemente, CA.
Jason became Chief Business Officer for the Company in 2009. In his role, Jason is responsible for business development and the strategic development of residential auction products and clients.
Prior to joining Auction.com, Jason served as the executive in charge of Credit Operations for Fannie Mae from 2004 through 2009. His responsibilities included underwriting, servicing and REO.
Previous to his position at Fannie Mae, Jason served as the Vice President of Default Administration for GMAC ResCap.
He is a graduate of UCLA. He resides in California with his wife and four children.
As Chief Legal Officer for Auction.com, Mindy Heppberger oversees all legal, regulatory, intellectual property, government relations, compliance, ethics and corporate governance matters. Heppberger’s expertise includes corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Before joining Auction.com in 2013, Heppberger served as deputy general counsel for Yahoo!. Prior to that, she was an associate with Latham & Watkins.
Heppberger holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Tim oversees Auction.com’s financial operations and growth strategies from the company’s Silicon Valley office. Prior to joining, Morse helped numerous technology companies – from start-ups to industry powerhouses – implement strategies that support sustainable growth including years at Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) where he held the role of chief financial officer and interim chief executive officer. After leaving Yahoo! in the fall of 2012, Tim joined online advertising start-up Adap.tv, where he led IPO efforts to near conclusion. Just before going public, the fast-growing tech company was acquired by AOL, Inc. (NYSE: AOL).
For 15 years, Morse also held numerous positions of progressively greater financial leadership with the General Electric Company, driving value creation initiatives for GE Capital, GE Corporate, GE Appliances and GE Plastics. In July 2005, Morse was named CFO and general manager of business development for GE Plastics. He left GE in 2007 to become CFO for the Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR), a San Jose-based maker of programmable logic semiconductors.
Morse holds a Finance and Operations & Strategic Management degree from Boston College.
With more than 20 years in the technology industry, Ravi brings a wealth of operating experience to Auction.com. Ravi has been consistently successful in bringing top performing products to market by leading software and infrastructure development at various start-ups to established companies.
Most recently, Ravi served as VP of Engineering and Products for Betfair. He also served on the Board of Directors for Kabam. Prior to Betfair, Ravi was the VP of Engineering at Coupons.com. As VP of Engineering at PocketThis, Ravi played a key role in building an award-winning wireless data services platform with operations in Europe and the U.S. As a member of the senior management team at NBC Internet, he was instrumental in the launching of a top 10 internet property at the time and a subsequent successful IPO. Ravi has also held Engineering positions at, CNET, EDS and Intergraph Corporation.
Ravi holds a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He’s named on two granted patents in online offer distribution systems and DRM systems for internet consumer applications.
David leads branding, lead generation, product marketing and corporate communications. Prior to joining Auction.com, Thompson was the CMO of WebEx, where he named and launched the company, positioned it as a global business brand, helped guide it through an IPO and grew the business to 2500 employees and $300 million in recurring revenue. He was also CEO and co-founder of Genius.com/LeadRocket (acquired by CallidusCloud), an early leader in the digital marketing automation space, where he grew the company to more than 3,000 customers, 80 employees and earned a place on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing tech startups.
Thompson served as senior vice president of marketing at Ustream, a leading platform for live video streaming, and has led product, marketing, and business development efforts at a diverse set of technology companies, including Microsoft and Quarterdeck.
David is the founder of the Sales 2.0 conference, a community-based effort to educate B2B sales and marketing professionals about the power of Web and mobile technologies to increase revenue generation potential across their organizations. He is also active in the Bay Area arts community supporting non-profit arts organizations.
Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University.
Ken Rivkin joined in 2009 and is responsible for the commercial real estate division.
Previously, Ken held senior roles in mortgage origination, structuring and trading/distribution at Bank of America, Credit Suisse and their predecessors. He was most recently a managing director at Credit Suisse. Ken began his career in real estate finance as a bank construction lender.
Ken is a graduate of Brown University and MIT Sloan School of Management, and was a NATO CCMS Fellow. He serves on the board of National Cooperative Bank, Commercial Real Estate Finance Council and the Governance Committee of the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO).
